What distinguishes the low glycaemic index diet?
A low glycaemic index diet is recommended for people with diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity and overweight. The diet is composed of the majority of low-glycaemic-index products, which allow blood glucose levels to remain stable, preventing hunger attacks and ravenous appetites.
- The diet consists of 20% Protein, 35% Fats and 45% Carbohydrates.
- There are 4 meals per day in the spread, we recommend that you spread your lunch into 2 portions and eat your meals at intervals of 2-3 hours regularly.
- You can use sweeteners such as erythrol, stevia and maltitol in any portion of your diet.
- Salt is provided in the meals, but if you can it is best to dispense with it
You can modify dishes a little, add water to smoothies or soups, add more vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, garlic, courgettes – this will not affect the calories significantly as they are low in calories. Season as you wish.
